Today, I commissioned four newly completed road projects in Oriade town of Amuwo Odofin. Among these was the reconstructed Old Ojo Road, which now provides commuters a faster alternative route for their journeys along the Lagos-Badagry corridor.
I also commissioned the newly rehabilitated and upgraded Mumuni Adio (formerly Buba Marwa) Road, Irede Road, and Navy Town Road — all situated in Amuwo Odofin.
The Old Ojo Road was divided into two construction phases, stretching 7.65 kilometres from Irede to Maza Maza. The first phase, which spans four kilometres from Irede Road to Oluti Bus Stop, is complete, and I assure you that the second phase will be signed off in the coming quarter.
The Irede Road, a single-carriageway, has now been expanded and dualised. This enhancement will benefit commuters connecting to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway at Trade Fair Bus Stop. Additionally, Irede Road is a crucial gateway to Irede Jetty, linking several riverine communities such as Ibasa, Ibeshe, Ilashe, and Imoore.
Today’s commissioning demonstrates our commitment to alleviating the people's struggles in this area. Our primary objective is to provide sustainable transport infrastructure and effective traffic management solutions to ease congestion. We have gone above and beyond by upgrading these roads from traditional asphalt to Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement, ensuring longevity and resilience.
The newly constructed concrete rigid pavement will offer users a durable experience. It will serve as a crucial artery for the Ijegun Egba area and provide vital access to tank farms, the Ijegun Egba Jetty, and various industrial establishments.
In the coming days, we have more projects lined up for commissioning in Alimosho, Eti Osa, and other areas.
Finally, I appeal to all users to protect these vital infrastructures. I urge residents, drivers, traders, commuters, transport unions, and shop owners to do everything possible to safeguard these projects and commit to a zero-tolerance policy for vandalism and abuse.
Together, we can ensure these roads serve our community for years.
