The Lagos State Government is fully committed to environmental sustainability and has developed a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach to ensure a clean, resilient, and livable city. Waste and sanitation challenges in a rapidly growing megacity like Lagos require structural solutions—not soundbites or political rhetorics.
Lagos is not “smelling”; Lagos is evolving—toward sustainable waste processing, modernized landfill management, cleaner waterways, and structured sanitation systems.

One of the key areas of focus has been waste management, with efforts to decommission landfills, improve sanitation enforcement, and transition towards waste-to-energy solutions. Additionally, the state has intensified its flood control measures, ensuring that drainage channels remain clear ahead of the expected above-normal rainfall in 2025.
