TRIBUTE TO A FATHER-FIGURE AND A QUINTESSENTIAL STATESMAN
Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi raji’un!
The death of President Muhammadu Buhari is deeply personal to me. He was a father and political mentor who taught us that the essence of public service is serving others.
I was privileged to serve under him in different capacities over the last 11 years. In all these, I have nothing but gratitude to him for believing in me to serve in such exalted roles, and more so for his fatherly counsel, support, and patriotic stand on national issues. It was truly an honor to be part of the journey of this noble gentleman in his labour of love for the country he dearly loved — Nigeria.
Nigeria has truly lost a true gem, a patriot, a statesman, and a paragon of integrity. I join millions of Nigerians to commiserate with his dear widow, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, his children, all his grieving family members, and the government and people of Katsina State over this irreparable loss.
May Allah (SWT) in His infinite mercy forgive his shortcomings and grant him the highest rank in Al-Jannah Firdaus.
