Increasing Laying Percentage
1. Quality Feed – Provide a balanced diet rich in protein (16-18%), calcium, and essential vitamins.
2. Adequate Lighting – Chickens need 14-16 hours of light daily to maintain high egg production.
3. Stress Reduction – Keep the coop clean, quiet, and predator-free to minimize stress.
4. Hydration – Ensure fresh, clean water is always available.
5. Proper Housing – Give each hen at least 4 square feet of space to prevent overcrowding.
Making Old Layersting Recovery – After molting, hens need high-protein feed to regain strength.
2. Supplement Calcium – Older hens may need extra calcium (oyster shells or crushed eggshells) for stronger eggs.
3. Reduce Stress – Keep them comfortable and well-fed to encourage laying.
4. Gradual Light Increase – If they’ve stopped laying due to shorter daylight hours, gradually increase artificial lighting.
5. Cull Non-Producers – Some hens naturally stop laying after 2-3 years. If productivity remains low, consider replacing them.
